The representative of Japan said that his delegation, after thorough analysis of this issue including examination of the negotiating history of the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement concerned, believed that its interpretation of the relevant provisions, including those of the Berne Convention, was valid and Japan's current copyright law was consistent with the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement.
