35. The representative of Korea suggested that the technical and financial assistance programmes of developed country Members should also include programmes for the promotion of public awareness of intellectual property in developing countries, in particular of the importance of the protection of economic rights to the cultural and technological advancement of any given country. With regard to areas of cooperation, his delegation believed that the Council for TRIPS could play a rôle in the identification of developing country Members' specific needs for assistance. The Council might also provide an opportunity for sharing information from and the experience of Members in the process of improving the protection of intellectual property.
