The Chairman recalled that, at the previous meeting of the Council, he had raised the following questions: when should the TRIPS Council undertake this review, which it was due to do before the end of the year, and how should it go about it, including what documentation might be prepared? The Council had scheduled its last meeting this year for the week of 11 November and had already agreed to undertake at that meeting its review of legislation in the area of geographical indications notified under Article 63.2. At the last meeting, several countries had requested more time to reflect upon this matter and to revert to it at the present meeting.
