B Notifications under Article 63.2 relating to Articles 3, 4 and 5
16. The representative of the United States said that the proposal had been offered with the objective of providing some flexible approaches for Members, so that they could make a notification that reflected the way their laws were structured. His delegation recognized that Members had different ways of applying intellectual property laws to beneficiaries from other countries with respect to granting national and m.f.n. treatment and would not want to impose a straight-jacket. If a Member did not wish to notify its laws and regulations in their entirety, it might make a notification that either stated that there was no discrimination in its laws or showed where specific instances of discrimination existed.
