The Chairman recalled that the Council had agreed, at its meeting of 11 to 15 November 1996, to focus the follow-up to the review of legislation on copyright and related rights at the present meeting and that Members should make a particular effort to cover at the present meeting any issues that might have arisen from the review. Further follow-up questions posed to the United States had been received from the European Communities and their Member States and circulated in document IP/C/W/53. Questions posed to Australia, Canada, Japan and the United States had been received from Brazil and circulated in document IP/C/W/55.
