The Chairperson recalled that, at the previous Council meeting, she had indicated that her informal consultations on this subject were focusing on the purpose of, and procedures for, this review, and that she had invited delegations to come forward with their suggestions on these points. She had held further consultations prior to the present meeting. She informed the Council that, since July 1997, seven Members had presented their views in writing and that she intended to continue her informal consultations with a view to proposing a decision at the Council's second meeting in 1998. To this end, she urged as many delegations as possible to come forward with contributions on the purpose of, and procedures for, the review under Article 24.2.
