G TECHNICAL COOPERATION
71. The representative of Macau welcomed the WIPO-WTO Joint Initiative for technical cooperation addressed to developing country Members, which permitted them to comply with their TRIPS obligations. He said that Macau was one of the Members that had expressed their willingness to be the subject of an early review of their intellectual property legislation and had made an advance notification of that legislation. Over the past several years, significant efforts had been made in Macau in order to adopt a legal framework with provisions consistent with its obligations under the TRIPS Agreement, but decisive steps still had to be taken regarding the implementation of the new legislation. His delegation therefore stressed the capital importance of this Joint Initiative. His delegation would shortly send letters detailing those matters in respect of which it would appreciate receiving technical and legal assistance, as offered under this Initiative.
