Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Amendment Regulations No 217, 2010
The Regulations amended the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Regulations 1991 to implement the Agreement between Australia and the European Community on Trade in Wine. The Regulations provide phase-out periods for registered Geographical Indications (GIs) and registered Traditional Expressions, rules for the use of pre-existing trade marks and rules for the use of GIs with vine-variety names and blended wines. The Regulations also set out the mechanisms for the Geographical Indications Committee (GIC) to determine and omit foreign country GIs and their translations in Australia.
Received Royal Assent on 19 July 2010, all provisions commenced as at 1 September 2010.
