At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairperson informed the Council that the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS ("UNAIDS") had requested to be admitted again as observer to the present meeting of the Council only as far as the discussion under agenda item C (intellectual property and public health) was concerned, and to future Council discussions on this subject. He recalled that UNAIDS was admitted as observer to the June and September meetings to follow the discussion under the agenda item Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines.
