The representative of Kenya supported the comprehensive statement of Nigeria made on behalf of the African Group and expressed his hopes that Members would be able to accept the Group's proposal since the proposed amendment incorporated those elements that were in the waiver but which were not already contained in the TRIPS Agreement. He said that, in view of the short deadline, it would be undesirable to have a long discussion on this issue and that any debate should stick to the letter and spirit of Paragraph 11 of the Decision.
