Associating himself with the coordinator of the African Group and earlier speakers from Africa, the representative of Mauritius thanked Members who had taken action at the national level to implement the Decision. He welcomed the very important initiative of the Norwegian Government which had taken the first step a year ago to adopt domestic legislation in order to implement the Decision. He encouraged Norway to take a leadership role and to work with the Chairman so that the process could be brought to a successful conclusion. He urged Members who had expressed concerns about the African Group proposal, to submit their own proposals so that the various difficulties and differences could be clarified. This would enable Members to see what could be done to achieve concrete results within the set deadline.
