Ambassador Choi Hyuck (Korea)
G DECISION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PARAGRAPH 6 OF THE DOHA DECLARATION ON THE TRIPS AGREEMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH
182. The representative of the Philippines said that his delegation remained committed to being constructive in these negotiations while preserving the flexibilities developing countries had gained from the Decision and bearing in mind fundamental concerns in this process. The African Group proposal was an important basis for the discussions. In various formal and informal sessions, his delegation had articulated concerns and reservations about the Chairman's Statement and the interpretation of certain provisions of the Decision. Those were accurately reflected in the minutes of the relevant meetings. Any amendment to the TRIPS Agreement pursuant to the Decision should be consistent with the humanitarian context in which the Decision had been adopted. His delegation had always been a keen participant in the negotiations, both as regards the drafting of the Doha Declaration on the TRIPS Agreement and Public Health, and the Decision. This remained an important issue for his Government and his delegation was ready to participate in any consultations leading in due time to a responsible and mutually acceptable solution.
