In response to a question from the representative of Hong Kong, China who had sought clarification of the requirements for Members benefiting from a transitional period to notify legislation, the Chairperson confirmed that in her informal consultations an understanding had been reached that, if a Member had made a notification of its legislation in advance of its obligation to apply the corresponding provisions of the TRIPS Agreement, it would not be necessary to notify legislation a second time when it came under an obligation to apply those provisions, unless there had been modifications to the legislation in the meantime.
