The representative of the European Communities informed the Council that the Directive relating to the Legal Protection of Biotechnological Inventions that his delegation had notified had been adopted by the European Communities and had entered into force on 30 July 1998; the provisions of the Directive would have to be implemented by the member States of the European Communities by 30 July 2000.
