The representative of Malaysia, speaking on behalf of the ASEAN country Members present in the meeting, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand, said that he supported the proposal made by Morocco calling for the Secretariat to prepare a paper on the extension of the scope of geographical indications to products other than wines and spirits, which might include the implications of such an extension. The proposal by the representative of South Africa also merited the consideration and support of all Members.
