The sentence in paragraph 201, starting "China considered biological material to be chemicals ...", should be replaced with the following:

"So far as China was concerned, as in some cases biological material was also chemicals, patents could be granted to microorganisms and genes so long as these inventions met the requirements for patentability as provided for in the Chinese patent law and so long as their commercial exploitation did not go against public order and morality".
