Copyright and Related Rights (Certification of Licensing Scheme for Further Education Providers) (The Irish Copyright Licensing Agency Limited) Order 2020 (S.I. No. 278/2020)
This Order, certified pursuant to section 173 of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 (CRRA), provides for new copyright licensing schemes for Further Education Providers. The new licensing scheme was required as a result of changes introduced in Section 15 of the Copyright and Other Intellectual Property Law Provisions Act 2019, amending Sections 57, 57A and 57B of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000. The licensing scheme allows Further Education Providers to make use of copyright-protected works for the education purposes. The licensing schemes are operated by the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency Limited (ICLA).
A previous licensing scheme existed for Educational Establishments S.I 514/2002. Arising from significant changes to the Copyright and Other Intellectual Property Law Provisions Act, 2019, the S.I no longer had legal effect and it became necessary to create new Educational Schemes. The statutory Instrument was replaced by 4 individual S.I.s. See also IP/N/1/IRL/104 (Copyright and Other Intellectual Property Law Provisions Act 2019 (Commencement) Order 2019 (S.I. No. 586/2019))
