Compilations of data enjoy copyright protection under Article 6 oftheCopyright Statute, which reads as follows:
"Compilations which constitute an original intellectual production by reason of the combination ofseparate contributionsinto a homogenous whole,shall enjoy copyright protection as collective works, the copyright, if any in the contributions shall not be affected".
The term "contributions", used by the said provision is not restricted to works eligible for copyright protection, but also comprises mere data.
