18. What term of protection does the patent law of Sri Lanka provide for patents? Please describe any provisions for extension of the term of protection and cite to the relevant provisions of the law.

4. Answer

(i) Fifteen years from the date of grant under the present law. The proposed law makes it 20 years from the date of application. (ii) No provisions are available for the extension of the term of protection.
