The representative of the European Communities said, in reply to Brazil, that he did not know the exact situation regarding "Cachaça" within the EU but that the EC would certainly have no problem in recognizing a non-geographical name as a GI, as had been done in the past for "Cava" or "Vinho verde" or any other names.
