O.ii Dispute settlement
251. The Chairperson informed the Council that, by means of a communication, dated 5 July 2001, the United States and Brazil had notified the Dispute Settlement Body that they had reached a mutually satisfactory solution to the matter raised by the Government of the United States in WT/DS199/1 (Brazil Measures Affecting Patent Protection). This communication had been circulated as document IP/D/23/Add.1. 252. On 23 July 2001, the United States and the European Communities had notified to the DSB their agreement to resort to arbitration pursuant to Article 25 of the DSU to determine the level of nullification or impairment of benefits to the EC as a result of Section 110(5)(B) of the US Copyright Act (see documents WT/DS160/14, 15 and 16). 253. On 6 August 2001, the Report of the Panel on United States – Section 211 of the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 1998 had been circulated as document WT/DS176/R.
