90. The representative of Brazil said that, as a co-sponsor of document IP/C/W/403, his delegation fully aligned itself with the statements made by India and Peru. He believed that it was important to find an adequate and effective international solution to effectively deal with bio-piracy and misappropriation of traditional knowledge. He said that this issue should be dealt with as a matter of urgency by WTO Members under the double mandate provided by paragraphs 12 and 19 of the Doha Declaration. 91. Referring to the African Group's paper, he said that there were a great deal of similar positions and concerns between the African Group and Brazil. As to the Swiss paper, although his delegation could not agree with everything in the paper, he felt that it was an important positive step forward.
