The representative of Brazil said that his delegation was in a position to join the consensus to extend the timeframe for concluding the work on an amendment to the TRIPS Agreement along the lines of the proposal made by the Chairman. He acknowledged the usefulness of the analysis of the delegation of Argentina on the legal significance of footnotes. In his view, it seemed inappropriate to use a footnote to amend the TRIPS Agreement and to include the Statement in the amendment.
