34. The representative of Brazil supported the statements made by the co-sponsors of document IP/C/W/429 and recalled that the defence and protection of national genetic resources and the fight against bio-piracy had been referred to as a matter of defending national sovereignty by the Foreign Minister of Brazil. Referring to the Checklist, he said that the group intended to make future submissions to address the remaining questions from that list at a later time.
