38. The representative of Kenya said that the Checklist, IP/C/W/429, and the African Group submission, IP/C/W/404, provided a useful basis for discussion. He called upon the TRIPS Council to begin work on modifying the TRIPS Agreement to require patent applicants to disclose the source and origin of biological resources and traditional knowledge and to comply with access and benefit sharing arrangements in the country of origin.
