64. The representative of China agreed with the overall objectives set up in the Bolivian proposal which aimed at protecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities. She said that the proponents of document TN/C/W/52 wished to achieve these objectives, and that a number of consultations had already been held in order to find ways and means to achieve these objectives. She said that the Council for TRIPS was the most appropriate forum to address the TRIPS/CBD issue. She reaffirmed her delegation's endorsement of document TN/C/W/52, saying that detailed discussions should be conducted by the Director General according to the Hong Kong mandate soon.
