The representative of Jamaica said that Jamaica could relate to many of the issues in the proposal from Cuba, Honduras, Paraguay and Venezuela on the protection of intellectual property rights for traditional knowledge under the TRIPS Agreement as raised under Article 71.1. As Jamaica had a rich heritage of traditional knowledge, it wanted to protect its rights in respect of international trade and such cultural expressions. It looked forward to and would participate in future discussions and negotiations on this issue.
