The Chairperson said that, although he interpreted the situation as being such that most countries wished to see the continuation of work on this item, the Council could not reach a consensus on the matter. However, there were no objections to the inclusion of the item on the agenda for the next meeting. He suggested that the Council revert to the issue at its next meeting, without prejudging the scope of the discussion to he held.
