6. Brief description
The Law aligns the provisions of civil, civil procedural, commercial procedural and intellectual property legislation in line with Ukraine's obligations in respect of the protection of intellectual property rights assumed under the Association Agreement between Ukraine, of the one part, and the European Union and its Member States, of the other part. In particular, it implements in Ukrainian legislation provisions concerning right to information, provisional and precautionary measures, as well as alternative measures, damages and publication of judicial decisions with the aim of improvement of IPRs protection in judicial procedures. The Law also amends the Law of Ukraine "On Copyright and Related Rights", in particular, regarding the regulation of property rights of subjects of related rights, and the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Rights to Marks for Goods and Services", particularly with regard to the inclusion of State symbols imitations into the trademark images. Оther amendments to legislative acts are due to the need to improve the institutional support of the national IP system.
