Amendment: 495/2008 Coll. of Laws of the Slovak Rep. Amendment: 125/2016 Coll. of Laws of the Slovak Rep. Amendment: 242/2017 Coll. of Laws of the Slovak Rep. The Slovak law on patents contains provisions of substantive patent law, provisions of procedural law applicable before the national Industrial Property Office, provisions dealing with enforcement of patent rights and a complex part dealing with the implementation of the European Patent Convention. The Patent Act is fully in line with the international obligations of the Slovak Republic and with the relevant EU legislation (Directive 98/44/EC; Directive 2004/48/EC; and Directive 2004/27/EC). The Slovak law on patents has been amended various times since 2001. Some of the amendments were based on the transposition of relevant EU Directives or connected with the accession of the Slovak Republic to the EU. Subsequent amendments focused on updates coming from the application of the procedural provision in the praxis, on strengthening the provisions dealing with employee regimes and on strengthening the enforcement of the rights.
