Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Act, 1980 (S.I. No. 24 of 1980)
An Act to create property rights as regards varieties of botanical genera or species; to provide for grants of such rights to persons who breed or discover such varieties and for the enforcement of such rights when granted; to establish the Office of the Controller of Plant Breeders Rights; to define the functions of the holder of that office and to make other provisions connected with the foregoing and to ratify the International Convention of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) of 2 December 1961 as revised on 10 November 1972 and 23 October 1978.
