Ambassador C. Trevor Clarke (Barbados)
H REVIEW OF THE APPLICATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE SECTION ON GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS UNDER ARTICLE 24.2
67. The Chairman recalled that Article 24.2 provided that the Council shall keep the application of the provisions of the GI Section of the Agreement under review. He said that, as had been agreed by the Council at its last meeting, he had continued his consultations on how the Council should organize its future work on the review. Although the consultations had shown that delegations' views were still divided, there had been some evidence of common thinking. In the light of these consultations, it appeared that Members still needed more time to reflect on the matter. He therefore suggested that his successor hold further consultations on the matter in due course. 68. He urged those delegations that had not yet provided responses to the Checklist of Questions (document IP/C/13 and Add.1) to do so. He also said that those Members that had already provided responses could provide updates to the extent to which there had been any significant changes to the way they provided protection to geographical indications.
