The representative of Canada said that his delegation agreed with others that item K was an appropriate item on the agenda, that it was clearly within the mandate of the Council and Members should not judge the relative importance of an issue if one Member considered it important to put it on the agenda. In view of activities in other forums, he said that while Canada was also active in the discussions in these other forums, his delegation saw value in discussing the issue in the TRIPS Council.
