The representative of the United States said that the discussions that had taken place earlier this meeting in relation to the review by the Council of the implementation of the Agreement had strengthened his delegation's view that it might be worthwhile to spend some time thinking about what might be done as a follow-up to paragraph 32 of the Council's report (document IP/C/8). Steps towards achieving implementation of the TRIPS Agreement in advance of the dates of the expiration of the transition periods might warrant some attention in the context of, in particular, the review of national implementing legislation.
