The representative of Switzerland said that her delegation did not oppose the Chairperson's conclusions, but wished to confirm its support for the request by the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) for observer status. The TRIPS Council could take a decision on observer status independently of consultations in other bodies of the WTO and she hoped that the Council would expeditiously make a decision on EFTA's request.
