The Chairperson recalled that, at the last meeting, the Council had continued its discussion of the proposals tabled, one from the EC and their member States (IP/C/W/107) and another joint proposal from Japan and the United States (IP/C/W/133). Some of the questions posed to these delegations, or comments made on their proposals, were still outstanding. Further, as a result of the Council's discussions at its meeting in February, the Secretariat had been asked to see what additional information it could provide on national and international systems for the protection of geographical indications relating to products other than wines and spirits. The Secretariat had circulated such information in document IP/C/W/85/Add.1.
