The representative of Uruguay supported the establishment of a multilateral system for notification and registration of geographical indications for wines and spirits, based on Article 23.4 and the Singapore Ministerial Declaration. As to the scope being extended to other products, it was necessary to await the upcoming deliberations in the context of the Seattle Ministerial Conference as well as observe the implementation of the system for wines and spirits.
