Article 1 of the draft Law on Geographical Indications defines Geographical Indications as follows:
Geographical indications are, for the purposes of this law, geographical statements which identify a good as originating in the territory of a member of the World Trade Organization or a State that accord similar treatment to the State of Bahrain, where the quality, reputation or other characteristics of the goods is essentially attributable to such geographical origin.
