The representative of Hungary said that he agreed with Switzerland, the EC, Australia and Brazil that a country name, in line with Article 22.1, could be a geographical indication provided that the quality, reputation or other characteristic of the good was essentially attributable to the particular location. However, it was not automatic that a country name would fit the definition of Article 22.1. That was, in fact, that linkage that his delegation had referred to in its previous statement.
