The Chairperson recalled that, at its previous meeting, the Council had received a comparative table from the delegation of the European Communities (IP/C/W/259) juxtaposing the proposals that were before the Council concerning the notification and registration system for geographical indications to be negotiated under Article 23.4 and had had another extensive discussion of this matter on the basis of these proposals, i.e. the proposal from the EC itself (IP/C/W/107/Rev.1), the joint proposal from Canada, Chile, Japan and the United States (IP/C/W/133/Rev.1), and the proposal from Hungary (IP/C/W/234 and 255).
