The Chairperson recalled that, at its previous meeting, the Council had considered a paper (document IP/C/W/289) which had been jointly submitted by the delegations of Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Guatemala, New Zealand, Paraguay and the United States and which outlined those delegations' views with regard to the joint proposal that the Council had had before it since its meeting in April this year and which was sponsored by the delegations of Bulgaria, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Iceland, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Nigeria, Pakistan, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Turkey and Venezuela (document IP/C/W/247/Rev.1). A new paper on the matter had recently been received from the delegations of Bulgaria, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, India, Kenya, the Kyrgyz Republic, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Nigeria, Pakistan, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Turkey (document IP/C/W/308).
