The Chairperson recalled that, at the Council's meeting in April 2001, Australia had posed a number of questions in the context of the review of the experience and practice with the application of the provisions in the TRIPS Agreement on geographical indications that the Council had started with the aid of the main section headings in the Secretariat's summary paper (IP/C/W/253) of the responses to the Article 24.2 questionnaire, including some questions specifically addressed to the European Communities and to Turkey under the heading "Definitions and Criteria for Recognition" and some questions specifically addressed to the European Communities and to Switzerland under the heading "Procedures for Recognition".
