The Chairman recalled that the Council had taken up the reviews of the legislation of China at its last meeting and agreed, in accordance with the normal procedures, to provide the period until 11 October for any follow-up questions to be sent in writing with a copy to the Secretariat and for the period until 8 November for responses to be supplied in writing, again with a copy to the Secretariat. The Council had taken up its normal review of China's TRIPS implementing legislation combined with the review under the transitional review mechanism. China's responses to questions posed to it had been circulated in document IP/C/W/374 and its addenda 1 and 2. However, there were still some outstanding follow-up questions posed by Japan and the European Communities and their member States.
