The representative of the European Communities recalled that, at the Council's September meeting, he had commented on the considerable progress China had made in putting in place a full IPR system. Since then he had had the opportunity to visit Beijing, which had been an excellent opportunity to clarify certain issues he had raised in September. He looked forward to receiving responses to the outstanding follow-up question and expressed his appreciation of the offer to hold further bilateral consultations. His delegation continued to be extremely worried about the high level of piracy and counterfeiting in China.
