The Chairperson informed the Council that Oman, in its notification of national implementing legislation, had stated that Article 70.8 and 70.9 did not apply to it, because it provided patent protection in respect of inventions of pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical products.5 Burundi had made a notification that "the existing legislation does not constitute any obstacle to the application of Article 70.8 and 70.9 of the Agreement". This notification had been circulated in document IP/N/1/BDI/1, referred to above under agenda item A(ii).
