28. The Chairperson informed the Council that, at its meeting on 12 June 1997, the Dispute Settlement Body had established a panel pursuant to requests by Japan and the European Communities concerning measures affecting the automobile industry in Indonesia (WT/DS55/6-WT/DS64/4, and WT/DS54/6, respectively). At its meeting of 30 July 1997, the DSB had agreed to the United States' request for the establishment of a panel (WT/DS59/6) also concerning such measures in Indonesia. In accordance with Article 9 of the DSU in respect of multiple complainants, the panel established on 12 June 1997 to examine the complaints by Japan and the European Communities would also examine the United States' complaint. The United States' complaint referred to, inter alia, Articles 3, 20 and 65 of the TRIPS Agreement. Information on the constitution of the panel was contained in document WT/DS59/7. India and Korea had reserved their rights as third parties to the dispute. 2. The Chairperson also informed the Council that the Panel on India - Patent Protection for Pharmaceutical and Agricultural Chemical Products, established by the DSB on 20 November 1996, had terminated its work and its Report had been circulated as an unrestricted document on 5 September 1997 (WT/DS50/R). According to Article 16 of the DSU, adoption of the Panel Report by the Dispute Settlement Body should take place within 60 days after its circulation unless a party to the dispute decided to appeal or the DSB decided by consensus not to adopt the report.
